Annette Bening Joins 'Katrina: American Crime Story'

HaydnSpurrell HaydnSpurrell American Crime Story won't be back until next year unfortunately, but that doesn't mean things are slowing down on casting. The latest addition is four-time Oscar-nominee Annette Bening, who joins Katrina: American Crime Story for FX. The follow-up comes on the back of the immensely successful The People v O.J. Simpson.

The press release indicates that Bening will play Louisiana Governor Kathleen Blanco. What isn't clear just yet is whether Ryan Murphy will be bringing any actors back from The People v. O.J, as is his habit. It's hard to imagine Sarah Paulson and others not returning for Katrina.

Katrina has the added difficulty of causing questions over its status as a crime story at all, and may alienate some viewers. Though, for those learned in the backstory and aftermath of the hurricane might understand a little more as to what makes this a candidate for the ongoing series. If season one achieved anything, it's convincing audiences that this series is one to watch.
