'Arrival' Writer Eric Heisserer Producing 'The Scrawl' for TV
Arrival screenwriter Eric Heisserer will executive produce on the supernatural thriller series The Scrawl, which marks the first project from Penchant Entertainment. The company has been launched by Erin Eggers, Chase Hudson, and Matthew Porter, with intentions for two or three feature films annually as well as two to four scripted TV shows.
Heisserer is getting plenty of coverage for his most recent work, and won the WGA for Best Adapted Screenplay on Sunday. The Scrawl, meanwhile, is a one-hour drama series written by Zach Craley (Heroes Reborn), and will explore the aftermath of collective negativity giving birth to an actual monster. It's based on the South Korean film Killer Toon.
Penchant is developing The Mean Tide as well, a feature film directed by Shana Betz. That will center on an exonerated ex-convict whose prison ties threaten to destroy his second chance at life.
