Corin Hardy is excited for 'The Crow' and 'The Nun'

GregHarmon GregHarmon Managing Editor My excitement in writing this news story has less to do with either film or any new developments - there are none - and more to do with the Lego figures featured in Corin Hardy's latest tweet.

The 42-year old director's first tweet of 2018 ushered in a welcome dose of positivity for his upcoming films The Nun (spin-off) and The Crow (reboot). Hardy's Tweet "Very excited about 2018. The year I get to unleash a demonic Nun & commence the tale of a vengeful Crow..." teases his upcoming films by way of two adorable figurines - The Conjuring's demon nun Valak and The Crow's Eric Draven - standing side by side. Unfortunately, only Valak is available for purchase on eBay here in the US.

Hardy made his directorial debut at Sundance with the 2015 horror film The Hallow. With just one film under his belt, the English filmmaker has been handed the keys to direct two studio films including Warner Bros. upcoming horror film The Nun - the second spin-off of The Conjuring series and the fifth film of the $900 million dollar Conjuring universe - and Miramax's reboot of Alex Proyas 1994 cult classic The Crow starring the late Brandon Lee.

Despite Hardy’s exuberance (and those sweet Lego minifigures), it's hard not to side with skeptics who believe either studio will fail to deliver an experience that resembles anything close to their original counterparts. #TBT when that Annabelle spin-off sounded pretty awesome on paper back in 2013, yet neither Annabelle nor Annabelle Creation did a whole lot to tweak the dial for The Conjuring franchise. I mean, they were fine but nothing to write home about. Oddly, I feel a tad better about The Crow reboot than others, but that may be my inner-rube talking. That being said, a solid trailer for The Nun and The Crow's final casting decisions could do wonders for a much needed attitude adjustment on my part. How about you?

The Nun is slated for release July 13, 2018 and The Crow is set to kickoff production next month - hopefully.
