DC Universe Gets a Boost as Warner Bros. Finds Writer for 'Lobo' Film

HaydnSpurrell HaydnSpurrell Lobo is probably one of the more obscure names to pass the ears of a mainstream audience, but in the comics he is an over-the-top parody of Wolverine, introduced in 1983.

Overtime he weaved in and out of the DC universe. He's an arrogant, drunken and violent character who falls firmly into the category of antihero.

And now he has a writer. Warner Bros. is looking to bring the character to the big screen in a post-Deadpool world, and Jason Fuchs has been hired to pen a script for the character. Fuchs is coming off scripting Wonder Woman, which is currently in production.

The character has been slowly developing since 2009, though Warner Bros. hasn't had much luck. Initially, Guy Ritchie was lined up to direct, before Brad Peyton joined. He departed, and Dwayne Johnson was lined up for the Lobo role. Again, another departure.

The film has never been cancelled, to Warner Bros. credit, and with the DC universe looking brighter than it's ever been, there's plenty of opportunity for the character to finally get a big screen treatment.
