Has Jurassic World 2 Found its Director?

HaydnSpurrell HaydnSpurrell Jurassic World was a box office success, one of the highest grossing films of all time, and following that up with Colin Trevorrow at the helm means carefully finding a suitable replacement.

Juan Antonio Bayona left the upcoming zombie horror sequel World War Z 2, and maybe now we know why. Deadline is reporting that the director may be the number one candidate to follow up Jurassic World's $1.6 billion take.

While the report indicates that Bayona has a close relationship with producer Frank Marshall, no offer has reportedly been made yet, and no word on official talks have surfaced. It seems the studio is interested in the director, but no moves have been made.

Bayona would follow Trevorrow in more ways than one, should he take the helm of the sequel. Like Trevorrow, Bayona has no large scale movies to his name, though he's a common name with fans of Showtime's Penny Dreadful.

The sequel is set to roar into theaters June 22, 2018.
