Pan, A Good Film With Plot holes Aplenty

jackblake151 jackblake151 I didn't really see myself seeing this. There was nothing up at my local cinema, so I thought "what the hell" and gave this film a go. So as you can see by the title it's basically a messy origin story with plot holes aplenty. This is Pan.

The film stars Hugh Jackman as Blackbeard and newcomer Levi Miller as Peter Pan. Okay, first let's talk about the flaws. All the effects are well, they're okay, just until the final part of the film, from there we get a cheesy throwback to the 2000s where everything looked fake, even the people on the green screen. Anyway, that's not the only flaw with this film, it's also the plot holes that fill this movie. It's an origin story, so fill us in with the main parts of the origin story like, for example, how did Captain Hook and Peter become enemies? The film doesn't explain it at all, it just ends with the two saying "will we stay friends?" "of course what could go wrong?" then the credits roll. You see, it doesn't explain a lot of things.

But apart from all the flaws there were some good parts in the film. The soundtrack is pretty impressive. There's one part where we meet Blackbeard for the first time in the mines and you hear the workers singing Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana, (I'm the only one in the cinema singing along to the words) that was pretty impressive. Some of the affects are impressive as well, but sadly the end half of the film they go really cheesy. For the first half they are really really good.

Finally the plot. Well, the story is about how Peter became the boy who never grew up. It's not that hard to get and really easy to follow minus a few plot holes here and there. The humor is definitely aimed at kids. There is some adult humor in here, the Nirvana reference is one of them. Overall the film is good. As I have said many times before, there are plot holes, but nonetheless it's a good film. I would give it a 3/10 mainly for the plot and effects near the end of the film.
