Richard Linklater walks away from 'Incredible Mr. Limpet'

Currently riding high atop one of the biggest critical successes of his career to date, Richard Linklater has reportedly walked away from his slated next movie, the remake, Incredible Mr. Limpet.

Incredible Mr. Limpet isn't exactly what you would call a very Linklater movie. The original Limpet was an animation/live-action hybrid that starred Don Knotts as a man who turns into a fish and helps the Navy destroy Nazi submarines.

Some people may see this as Linklater being a snob, whilst others will see it as Linklater simply looking at his options now he has some weight within Hollywood.

Linklater's next movie is expected to be That’s What I’m Talking About. It's a movie that has long been in the developmental stage but now looks like it will see the light of day. It is a semi-autobiographical and a spiritual sequel to Dazed and Confused. Linklater told Collider in 2009, “If Dazed was my high school, this is my college. It’s about a weekend in college in the early 1980's. It’s funny, I thought it’s the funniest thing I ever wrote.”
