Suicide Squad Undergoing Reshoots to Add More Humour to the Film

HaydnSpurrell HaydnSpurrell Suicide Squad looks set to be a breath of fresh air for fans who have grown tired of the dark and dire palette and tone of DC's new universe, following Man of Steel and Batman v Superman. But Warner Bros. isn't settling for what it's got.

The film is set to undergo reshoots with the intention of adding more humour and levity to the film. In other words, they want more fun. Reportedly, the latest trailer for the film may well be misleading in that it reveals the entirety of the films light-heartedness, which suggests the film might not be as revolutionary for DC live-action.

After audiences have responded enthusiastically to what's been shown so far, it seems the studio is committed to giving the fans what they want. This comes from a film that was apparently so dark, David Ayer had to hire an on-set therapist.

The Suicide Squad reshoots are said to be significant, at a cost of tens of millions of dollars. The intention is to "beef up fun character moments and interactions." This is certainly a risky endeavour, and could result in a film that has an awkward, choppy tone.

Hopefully, the commitment is not out of concern but out of creative necessity. There's cause for concern though, at least until we see the film, which is out August 5.
