Vince Vaughn Joins Dwayne Johnson Wrestling Comedy 'Fighting With My Family'
Dwayne Johnson has confirmed Vince Vaughn for a role in the real-life wrestling comedy/drama Fighting With My Family, in which Vaughn will play an “80’s wrestling star who squandered his money and opportunities.” Filming begins in Los Angeles and London this month.
Lena Headey and Nick Frost have also been cast in the pic, as the parents of WWE superstar Paige. Johnson will play a role in the film alongside Florence Pugh, who plays Paige. Jack Lowden will play her brother Zak.
Johnson and Dany Garcia's Seven Bucks Productions, Misher Films, WWE Studios, and Film 4 are all teaming for the project, which is written and being directed by Stephen Merchant. It is based on the true personal story of Paige and her family of professional wrestlers.
The film is inspired by Channel 4 British documentary The Wrestlers: Fighting With My Family. As for Vaughn, having not been a fan of his work for a long time I actually found him refreshing in Hacksaw Ridge, and I hope he can maintain that range even as he dips back into comedy with this upcoming project.
