Will Smith Guarantees Return for Bad Boys 3
Bad Boys launched three careers when it released way back in 1995, and probably most notably of all it catapulted Will Smith into the broader public eye as NBC sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air hurried toward its end.
Martin Lawrence, comedian and star of the sitcom Martin, also took advantage of the opportunity, and the two were lead by Michael Bay, who used Bad Boys to transition from music video director to big screen blockbusters.
Bad Boys 3 was made official last year, along with a Bad Boys 4 definitely on the cards. Concerns as to whether Will Smith would return to the franchise can now be squashed, having confirmed that he and Lawrence will definitely be returning.
"I hadn't seen him for about two years, and we just looked at each other. We hugged and in that moment we both knew we were making another Bad Boys. So we're definitely doing another one," Smith said.
With a slated 2017 release, there's not really time to muck around when it comes to casting, so its fortunate that the two stars are ready to go. It's unclear whether they were in talks prior to that fateful hug, but nevertheless fans can rest easy.
Bad Boys 3 opens Feb 17, 2017. Bad Boys 4 is set for July 3, 2019.
