Now that the 007 - Michael Fassbender casting couch frenzy is over - at least until 2019 - we can turn our attention to his latest thriller, adapted from Norwegian author Jo Nesbo's book The Snowman. Fassbender portrays lead detective Harry Hole who is investigating a series of murders where the killer leaves a snowman at the site of the murders. But in this game of cat and mouse, it appears "the snowman" is tracking Fassbender and his young recruit played by Rebecca Ferguson.
I think it's the falling snow that sets the killer off
Universal's international trailer dials up the tension with a setting that channels a foreboding atmosphere reminiscent of David Fincher's 2011 The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. But unlike Tattoo, The Snowman elevates its mystery with a series of grisly murders, including -spoiler- the decapitated head of Chloe Sevigny's character. The trailer also reveals a few scenes that include the killer, whose calling card is to report his victims as missing before he kills them, all whilst trolling Fassbender's character with a series of creepy letters.

Building snowman, cutting things up into little pieces. That's what a child does to establish order
The Snowman is directed by Swedish filmmaker Tomas Alfredson (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy) and is co-adapted by Hossein Amini (Drive) and Peter Straughan (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy). The movie also stars Rebecca Ferguson (Mission: Impossible), Chloe Sevigny (RIP), Charlotte Gainsbourg, J.K. Simmons, Toby Jones and Val Kilmer.....Anyone willing to bet Val Kilmer is the serial killa?
Universal will release The Snowman on Oct. 20. Check out the international trailer below:
