7. Third Part of Scorsese's Perceived Gangster Trilogy

JamesArthurArmstrong JamesArthurArmstrong Although it isn’t an officially announced trilogy, nor was it promoted to be one, Casino is in the eyes of Martin Scorsese, and Nick Pileggi, the third chapter in his set of mobster movies.

The first edition of this perceived trilogy comes in the form of Scorsese's Mean Streets, which examines the lives of street punks selling Jap adapters. Scorsese was interested in the kids from Mean Streets growing up which led him to GoddFellas, the second edition. He understood that whilst this group of mobsters can claim to live big and afford to go to the Copacabana, they were second-level, sort of the middle-class mobsters. GoodFellas is the perfect jumping off point for Casino, the top of the mob world. When you break it down and look at it in those simplistic terms, it makes for a very compelling and well-crafted outlook on the criminal world.
