Guardians of the Galaxy: Meet the Villains

JamesArthurArmstrong JamesArthurArmstrong With the release of Marvel's latest superhero franchise, Guardians of the Galaxy, fast approaching— it's time to introduce the bad-guys that will try to defeat our heroes lead by Star-Lord.

Korath the Pursuer

Korath the Pursuer is an agent of the Kree Empire. He's a cyber-geneticist and the founder and head of the Pursuer Project to develop cybernetic warriors for Kree. Korath will be played by Oscar nominated Djimon Hounsou. In the trailers he's been shown as a guy with a fairly big anger issue. He can be seen running at Star-Lord (Chris Platt) wielding a rather impressive gun at him. As an expert hunter, expect to see a lot of action sequences when Korath is involved. His superhuman abilities will be a key factor and will no doubt be a source for success when showcasing the high spots within this movie.

Ronan the Accuser

Member of the alien race the Kree and member of the Accuser Corps is bad-guy, Ronan the Accuser, who'll be played by Lee Pace. Ronan the Accuser has featured in numerous comics across Marvel's universe and will appear for the first time on the big-screen in the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy. His main goal no doubt in the movie will be to hunt down the gang of heroes lead by Chris Platt's character Star-Lord. They have possession of the mysterious orb that he covets. Ronan has a serious amount of power as he can manipulate energy, which has been demonstrated in previous trailers. His weapon of choice is a rather large hammer, which he will no doubt put to effective use within the film.

Nebula

A brutal space pirate and mercenary, Nebula will be played by Doctor Who's Karen Gillan. In the movie she will team up with Ronan and Korath to pursue the sort after orb, she may also have her hands full with a particular member of the Guardians of the Galaxy in Gamora (Zoe Saldana). This could lead to an interesting sub-plot as these two used to share a sisterly bond with them both being assassins, but a change in allegiance, caused frailties.

Thanos in the 'Guardians of the Galaxy'

Thanos

The only bad-guy who has yet to see any sort of promotional material and will likely only have a cameo in the film is Thanos, voiced by Josh Brolin. Thanos is the puppet master of the three aforementioned villains. The Mad Titan who was first introduced to us during the end credits of Joss Whedon's Avengers: Assemble won't have too much in the way of a physical presence in the Guardians of the Galaxy but will likely be a huge dominating factor in the sequel or future Marvel movies.

Written and directed by Gunn, the 1st August release will star Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Lee Pace, Djimon Hounsou, Benicio del Toro, John C. Reilly, Glenn Close, Karen Gillan, Gregg Henry, Michael Rooker, Vin Diesel and Bradley Cooper.
