Spike Lee's Amazon Movie 'Chi-raq' Will Get A December Release
Amazon Studios have announced the release date for the Spike Lee-directed 'Chi-raq' which will be the studios first feature-length movie release.
The movie will be released in theatres on December 4, 2015. Roadside Attractions and Lionsgate will co-distribute the movie for its exclusive theatrical release, which is expected to cover all major cities across the United States.
Written by Lee and Kevin Willmott, the film is inspired by the Greek comedy Lysistrata but instead focuses on a very serious subject matter. Set in Chicago's South Side, 'Chi-raq' looks at the South Side's troubles with gang violence and police that have dominated the news in the city these past few years. The film stars Samuel L. Jackson, John Cusack, Wesley Snipes, Jennifer Hudson and Nick Cannon.
