What Best Picture Nominee Had The Best Social Media Reach?

The leader of the pack on social media is the bookmakers favourite The Revenant. Inarritu's epic also leads with the most nominations this year and has trumped its fellow nominees by being the far and away social media champ.

The Revenant has the top trailer on YouTube with an increase of over 3 million views added since the nominations were announced. Collectively, the films trailers amount to 10 million YouTube views. The films Facebook account and Leonardo DiCaprio's Facebook page have both attributed to the films fantastic social reach. DiCaprio has added 486k Twitter followers and 312k Facebook fans. Having a big social media star like DiCaprio will always help build momentum around your films social media universe.

The Big Short also saw a strong increase on its social media platforms by its star power. Steve Carrell has always been viewed as particularly "social" as is Ryan Gosling. Christian Bale, on the other hand, is very "unsocial" on social media.

Second place went to Room, which doubled its YouTube views and had a lot of chatter amongst its fans through Twitter and Facebook pages. The Big Short finished a very close third, Bridge of Spies fourth, The Martian and Spotlight fifth and sixth, respectively. Brooklyn came in seventh but saw a huge boost thanks to its nominations. Mad Max: Fury Road came in eighth but that is due in-large that the movie had the earliest release of all the nominees, so it's kind of had it's time on social media.
